The Center for Strategic Initiatives at the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) is seeking to add districts to participate in an Advanced Learning Pilot program. The Advanced Learning Pilot program will focus on partnering with districts to develop a continuum of culturally responsive advanced learning services, utilizing the multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) framework and talent development principles. This will be a five-year program with frequent check-ins, observations, and professional development.
Goals for this program are equitable opportunities for advanced and accelerated learning for all students, especially marginalized students who are historically underrepresented in advanced programs and services.
Expectations for participating districts includes:

Leaders to speak with and choose classroom educators who enthusiastically agree to participate and serve as exemplars for future implementation in this pilot program with an open classroom.

Administrator(s) agree to support classroom teachers in the implementation of this pilot as well as promoting expansion of best practices across the district and Commonwealth.

The team agrees to attend all required workshops, meetings, and collaborative planning times.

The team understands that this is a 5-year program with an ultimate goal of becoming an exemplar for other districts.

The District agrees to share data as needed to DESE.

The District currently uses High Quality Instructional Materials in the grades and subject areas participating in this program.

The District currently has structures and systems in place to facilitate MTSS.
